| 전쟁에 참여했던 선열들의 고귀한 희생을 국가적 차원에서 추모하며, 전쟁에 관련된 유•무형의 자료들을 발굴 수집하여 보존, 전시함으로써 역사적 사실들을 인식하는 호국의 광장으로 조성하는데 목적이 있다.
외부공간은 야외 전시장과 공원으로 기능하도록 하였다. 이전의 기념공원이 축과 상징성을 강조한 점과 달리, 전시와 사람들의 체험을 통해 공감을 이끌어 내고자 한 메모리얼의 해석과 명쾌한 그리드 패턴을 사용하여 땅을 창조적 디자인의 대상으로 접근한 점은, 한국조경 설계의 전환점이 되는 작품으로서 의미가 있다.
The objective is to create a space of defending the fatherland that honors the noble sacrifice of fallen patriots in a national level and discover, collect, reserve and exhibit tangible and intangible war materials.
It was designed to inspire symbolism and commemoration and also function as an outdoor exhibit space and a park. |
